About The Brickell Suite

The Brickell Suite is the only first floor guest room at Engadine and, by a meaningful margin, the most accessible. If stairs are an issue for any reason, a recent surgery, a knee that’s not what it used to be, an older parent traveling with you, or a mobility consideration that simply makes the second and third floors a non starter, this is the room that lets you stay in the historic inn without negotiating a staircase. It is also the room closest to the front entry, the parlor, the dining room, and the kitchen, which means you can move easily between the suite and the inn’s main common spaces without using stairs.

The room itself is comfortable and substantial. A king sized bed, a sitting area with an arm chair pulled up to the fireside, a writing table, three full closets that handle multi night packing without negotiation, and a large en suite bath with an oversized shower. The fireplace runs seasonally from mid October through mid March. The bathroom layout and the room’s first floor placement are the two details guests with accessibility needs comment on most often.

Brickell is also a strong choice for couples who simply want the convenience of the first floor or guests planning a longer stay where access to the parlor, dining room, and kitchen matters. Returning guests with mobility considerations often book Brickell every visit and recommend it specifically to friends in the same situation.

A few things worth knowing. The room sits adjacent to the inn’s main first floor common spaces, so it is slightly more exposed to the natural movement of the property during breakfast hours and during weddings. We do not put guests in Brickell when an active wedding ceremony is in progress on the property’s main lawn, and we manage that proactively, but if you are particularly noise sensitive, the upstairs Mary Hoyt or Engadine suites may suit you better. Coffee and tea are available 24 hours in the second floor common sitting area, which is a flight up from Brickell, though many Brickell guests choose to brew their own in the dining room.

Book the Brickell Suite directly through our website for the best available rate, and call us if you have any accessibility questions before you book. We’d rather walk through it with you than have you arrive and find a surprise.
